Who are we?
We are an informal group of North Canberra residents (mainly in Ainslie) who are concerned about the YWCA’s proposal to redevelop the old preschool in Rutherford Cres, Ainslie.
To stop the redevelopment.
To inform the Canberra community about the proposal.
To develop viable self sustaining alternative uses for the site in order to encourage support from the ACT Government to save this important community resource.
To lobby Members of the Legislative Assembly to save the original buildings.

Give Community Facilities back to the Community!
Moratorium on redeveloping community facilities on community facilities land. They are being demolished all over Canberra.
Review of the need and importance of Community Facilities to the Neighbourhood and Community.
Changes to Planning Framework and Processes for Community Facilities:
Early engagement with community to explore alternative opportunities
Remove 'supportive housing' and other residential developments from the permitted use on community facilities land
Build more social housing on land zoned residential
Alternative to demolition. Use the estimated total project cost of $2.4 million to buy 10 well located units across the inner North of Canberra.
